- Supported the growth of future generations by providing global experiences and ecological learning opportunities
- Explored major attractions in Singapore with a focus on ecology and sustainability
POSCO INTERNATIONAL (CEO Lee Kye-In) conducted an overseas exploration program titled ‘POSCO INTERNATIONAL’s Singapore Exploration with Future Generation’ for 16 children from the Communal Living Residences and foster care in Incheon, in collaboration with the Incheon Regional Headquarters of ChildFund Korea, from October 29 to November 2 for five days and four nights.
This event was organized as part of its flagship social contribution program, ‘Inter-Rail.’ Launched last year, Inter-Rail combines travel, culture, and education, providing domestic experiential activities in Jeonju Hanok Village and the National Institute of Ecology in Seocheon. This year, reflecting its role as an integrated business company, POSCO INTERNATIONAL expanded its international outreach to provide children with global experiences and environmental learning opportunities.
The Singapore exploration, centered on an eco-friendly theme, embodied POSCO INTERNATIONAL’s social contribution goal of ‘shaping a sustainable future for all.’ The participating children visited ecological tourist sites in Singapore, gaining firsthand insight into the importance of the environment and Singapore’s diverse culture. The exploration group visited iconic locations in Singapore, starting with Asia’s first wildlife river safari, ‘River Wonders,’ followed by nature experience programs at Gardens by the Bay, the Rhapsody Show, Universal Studios, and other places, creating lasting memories.
On the second day of the exploration, the group visited POSCO INTERNATIONAL Singapore Pte. Ltd., gaining insights into global business practices and finding motivation to pursue their future aspirations.
To build excitement and set high expectations for the participating children’s exploration in Singapore, the company made several arrangements in advance. First of all, the company provided a ‘Welcome Package for Overseas Exploration’ that included a ready bag, eco-friendly amenities, a cap, and a guidebook, making the start of the trip even more memorable. The company also offered safety training and education on children’s rights to ensure the children could participate in all activities without worries.
“We hope our visit to Singapore becomes a valuable experience for children to develop a global perspective,” a POSCO INTERNATIONAL official stated. “We will continue to expand our social contribution activities for children and youth with the goal of achieving a sustainable future and social value.”
Meanwhile, POSCO INTERNATIONAL engages with the local community based on its social contribution vision, InterACT Together, guided by four strategic directions: ▲ Eco-friendliness, ▲ Global, ▲ Future Generations, and ▲ Staff Participation. Some of the notable projects include Korean language education and support activities for immigrant adolescents, as well as trade, economy, and energy education―known as Point Classes―for children at local child centers.
